Burns’ night

Gateshead has a strong connection with Scotland, you know. Some Schooner regulars may remember the famous battle between Malcolm of Scotland and William the conqueror, which occurred just around the corner to the pub. OK, so this actually happened just up the road on Sheriff Hill, but it’s a close enough link for us to celebrate Burns’ night this Saturday. After all, Malcolm of Scotland almost certainly called in the Schooner before the battle for a quick dram.

Anyway, we will have haggis.

Our award winning Sunday lunch

Did you know that the Schooner’s Sunday lunch was rated as the best in ‘the Toon’ by Nami Up North, the independent, Newcastle based vlog, in 2019?

We put a lot of effort in trying to make Sunday lunch with us a special occasion. To book, just call us on 0191 4777 404, or email food@theschooner.co.uk. Here’s this Sunday’s mouth watering menu.

And here are a some sample of pictures of meals we’ve recently served.

2020

We’d like to wish all of our customers old and new a happy new year. Thanks for being nice people. Our kitchen’s open as usual today, so we have good food to help any hangovers. Also, Russ Tippins is here at six, with a cool acoustic set. Then at half eight, we’ve our quiz of the year. So, forget the housework and TV, come spend time in our pub.
