While the Schooner is closed during the current Covid-19 situation, we’re offering a takeaway service, seven days a week. Watch this space for our Sunday menu. Meanwhile, here’s our Monday – Saturday takeaway menu.
Did you know that we cater for celebrations, conferences and events? We offer free use of our conservatory, with a choice of quality buffets at good prices. Here’re some typical examples, but just get in touch with your requirements and we’ll give you a quote.
Why not treat your mother to a lovely meal on Mother’s Day? We’ve a special menu and, as always, we offer great quality food at affordable prices.
We’d advise booking early to avoid disappointment because we expect 22nd March to be very busy.
To book, just call us on 0191 4777404. We do need to ask for a deposit on this occasion, just £5 each. Deposits can be paid when booking over the phone, or in person.
Take a look at the menu ….
Schooner pizza burgers are selling at a rate we could never have imagined. Today, we even had a takeaway order for 13!
So, we’d like to offer a new development in pizza burger-ness. For the brave of heart, that is.
How about a 32oz pizza burger? Served with a basket of Schooner chips, of course. All this for just £15.
… has landed.
We may be somewhat biased, but we think it’s gorgeous. Tested on non-vegans (and one vegan) this afternoon. Everyone loved it.
We’ve a lot going on in the Schooner this week:
Wednesday 29th The BBC will be filming in the pub all day, from before opening time until after closing. The Schooner will be featuring in the BBC’s Inside Out programme and the Inside Out team are going to film a typical day in the pub. This means that we’ll be open as usual this Wednesday. As regulars will know, Wednesday is the Schooner’s quiz night. The quiz starts at 8:30 and new teams or individuals are always welcome. Before the quiz, we’ll have a short acoustic set from Michael Rolf, 7:00-8:00.
Friday 31st The Odels will be live in the Schooner from 8:00. They’re the best you’ll see in Northern Soul and Motown, so why not check them out.
Saturday 1st The fabulous Palominos are providing the entertainment on Saturday night. Expect 40s swing, 50s rock n roll, 60s beat.
Sunday 2nd Fancy a satisfying Sunday lunch? Remember we serve a fantastic Sunday lunch at a modest price. We’d advise booking if possible; we were full to capacity last week. After a nice meal, what better way to spend the early evening that see the truly talented Russ Tippins perform live. If you’ve not seen him, he’s an incredible musician.
Gateshead has a strong connection with Scotland, you know. Some Schooner regulars may remember the famous battle between Malcolm of Scotland and William the conqueror, which occurred just around the corner to the pub. OK, so this actually happened just up the road on Sheriff Hill, but it’s a close enough link for us to celebrate Burns’ night this Saturday. After all, Malcolm of Scotland almost certainly called in the Schooner before the battle for a quick dram.
Anyway, we will have haggis.
From today, our new menu.
Our new Pizza Burger is attracting attention.
At an initial price of only £6, we think they’re a bargain. Everyone’s loving them.
Here’s our menu for this Sunday, 19th January. To book, just email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0191 4777404.
