Gateshead has a strong connection with Scotland, you know. Some Schooner regulars may remember the famous battle between Malcolm of Scotland and William the conqueror, which occurred just around the corner to the pub. OK, so this actually happened just up the road on Sheriff Hill, but it’s a close enough link for us to celebrate Burns’ night this Saturday. After all, Malcolm of Scotland almost certainly called in the Schooner before the battle for a quick dram.

Anyway, we will have haggis.
